stop going viral

(if you actually want followers)

after analysing almost 160 of my past posts, this was one of the most unexpected things i found

my posts with the most impressions or comments weren't always the ones that converted to followers

in fact, some of my 'best' posts actually led to the least amount of growth

so i did a little deeper digging and think i figured out why-

people almost never follow you for just one post

they either follow you because they've seen enough of your posts that you've finally worn them down (which is why consistency is so important)

OR they follow you because they believe that your next post will be just as great. (usually because that post was so unique they can't risk not seeing similar ones again)

but in either of these cases, the best strategy is not to chase virality

but to focus on posting regularly and consistently (to both flood the feed with your posts, and to develop more unique ideas)

so go on, just hit post :)
