i moved countries this morning

(actually writing this from the plane right now)

four years ago, i moved from australia to portugal. and it was amazing. there's some things that you'll only ever learn by leaving (and i know anyone else who's moved before will know this)-

because there's the big things, like speaking a new language or meeting new people or all the new places you start travelling to

and then there's the small things- the ideas and the lifestyles that start to become your baseline. the way it's weird to speak anything less than 3 languages here, or the expats who move every 2 months, the people who've made their wealth in industries you didn't even know about-

and suddenly, your perception of the world becomes so much bigger

and there's a moment where you realise that that one sliding door decision changed the course of the rest of your life

so, on this one way flight, here's to continuing to change that course

to edinburgh and the university of st andrews, i can't wait for the next few years

and to portugal, obrigada por tudo :)
