i have over 11k followers and almost 4M impressions

but most of my posts fail (and that's good)

this is what i mean- my top 10% of posts are responsible for 38% of ALL my impressions and 42% of all follows

... which is crazy when you actually think about it

and when you open the net a little wider, it gets even crazier- my top 20% of posts are responsible for 52% of impressions and 58% of follows

which means that, mathematically, most of my posts are actually failing

but there's something that the numbers don't talk about-

that other 90% of posts, the ones that don't lead to much growth or very many impressions- they're the only reason i can have that 10% that do well

because they teach me what NOT to do- what hooks don't work, what stories don't perform, what people just aren't interested in

and more importantly, the only way i get a chance at achieving a 10% post, is by posting as many 90% posts as i can

because although i now have a MUCH better feel for this platform, i still can never truly predict whether something is going to do well

which means that the best i can do is try to write the best post i can, post it... and then just wait and see

and i guarantee you that those 10% posts were probably ones i didn't expect to blow up, and would never have posted if i was trying to ensure that every post was viral

so just take more shots- because if 10% of your posts lead to most of your growth, then the more posts you publish, the larger that 10% will be :)
